My Creative Space

For last weeks Creative Space I showed some fabric that I wanted to a. make into cushions and b. make into a Poison Ivy style dress for a 40th I am attending on Saturday night.

I'm loving the cushions and am now deciding if to keep them or put them in my madeit shop......

A little sneak peak of my dress up dress. It took a really long time and I can't believe that I put so much time and energy into it for a fancy dress party. Anyway I'm excited about it, loved making it and can't wait for the party. We are packing up today for our long drive to Mildura in the morning and looking forward to my lovely friend Sally's 40th birthday. I will post more pics next week.

Have a fabulous weekend everyone.

Flea Market Finds

I've been on the lookout for the "right" coat for a month or so now and every one I look at just isn't "right". That was until I spotted this one of the local op shops. It wasn't exactly a bargain in op shop terms but it fits beautifully and I love it.

I picked these up for $3, never worn and with no laces........ I love converse trainers but don't love the price so with my $12.50 purple ones from BigW and these nameless brand ones I'm pretty happy!

More fabric for my stash. Love, love, love this floral. For a measly $4 it was a bargain and its a huge piece of fabric.

Cute little floral.

My Creative Space

I have been very lucky finding some super cool fabric of late from the Oppies and am busting to get to work. I have way too many ideas and projects on the go and as a consequence haven't done much at all. Today I WILL produce something..........might help if I get off the computer!!!

Today I will get this pile of unfinished bunting finished.

I will also get a cushion made from this rather super tablecloth with New Zealandy stuff on it.

And if i'm super organised, I will cut out a little black dress that will end up covered in fabric green leaves...................................................Poison Ivy style.
I have a 40th birthday party coming up with the theme "Heroes and Villians". Now, in my humble opinion this little ol' theme should have been used up for the 18th and 21st parties when we could all pull off wearing lycra. After much thought and googling I have come up with Poison Ivy wearing a dress with leggings, boots and possibly a cape. This is to stay warm and to also hide the lumpy bumpy bits that my late 30's body has. So, stay tuned...

Flea Market Finds

Flea Market Finds

I've found some really lovely things lately and have had fun searching Oppies that I only visit occasionally.
This cupboard is something that I've been on the lookout for and for a mere $35 I couldn't not have it. At the moment its in the hallway looking after my collection of crazy nylon/polyester vintage clothing. Its not the best position for it but until our upstairs reno is completed it doesn't have a home.

A pillowslip and assorted doilies that I really must start to use. My collection is growing at a fast rate so I think its time to get creative with them.

I have a passion for this kind of quilted fabric and recently made a little girls skirt from a hot pink floral version. I have more grand plans for this red piece. I'm also thinking the blue and green tablecloth may live a new life as a ladies skirt.

I am so in love with these Italian red leather sandels. They were an absolute steal and look like they've never been worn. I also love the heel, it helps with my lack of height issue!

Mr Sparrow - Oran leather wallet giveaway

I'm a winner!

I don't get to say that very often so am mighty chuffed when this morning I was catching up with some blog reading and discovered that I was in fact the winner of the Oran leather wallet giveaway at Mr Sparrow. I have a beautiful wallet at the moment but as with every other one I seem to purchase it falls apart in no time at all. So this giveaway came at a good time and I can't wait for it to arrive. They are so lovely and how nice are those colours?

If you haven't already checked out Mr Sparrow's blog get yourself over there now.

Happy Sunday to all.

Lovin' The Junes tunes

Last night I left the hubbie home with the kids plus an extra and met my dirty ho's down at the Piping Hot Chicken Shop (1. They are not really dirty ho's but they do really like to be called that!!! 2. Yes, it really is called the Piping Hot Chicken Shop or as the local's call it the Chicken Shop. It is run by Captain Chook, a local legend who supports the local music scene and puts on some of the most amazing music most weekends and who pours a mean and large glass of wine.) So off I went to see The Junes! (THE JUNES are a country swing supergroup formed in the wake of GIT and THE TOE SUCKING COWGIRLS, two of the finest female fronted bands in the land. Barely containing the talents of Sarah Carroll, Suzannah Espie and Gleny Rae Virus, THE JUNES write, sing and play with all the skill and style of their combined years in the business. These gals may travel around the country and around the world in other guises, singing other songs, but when THE JUNES get together, a cone of country power is raised wherever they are, and audiences are drawn to it like moths to a flame........ helpless in the spell of the harmonies, the swing, and the sight of these beautiful women.

I loved getting out with friends and listening to some amazingly cool music. I plan on many more visits to the Chicken Shop in the next few months, particularly to see Chris Wilson.....love him!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

My Creative Space

I have pottered along all week sewing here and there and getting a few small orders completed. This girls skirt I have had cut out for a few weeks and haven't been able to get it done with everything else taking priority. This design has been in my head for months and finally its done and I love it.

I'll be putting it into my madeit shop sometime today.

My Creative Space

I have a few things on the go at the moment and so many more than I need to get down on paper before they disappear into the big black hole of "forgotteness" (not a word, I know!!!).

Today I will be finishing off this table mat for an order. I've been selling these for the past few years and still love them but somehow have not managed to keep one for myself. I am also going to start using this design to make other things. But for today I need to focus and get this one finished for its new owner.

I'm also working on some bunting for the same order and while I'm at it making many more as my stock has depleted to just a few.

This will be a girls skirt. I cut it out last week but haven't managed to get any further with it. I so want to get it done as its a new design and I'm actually not sure if the idea that is in my head will come out the way I imagine.......I hope it does.

These boots are made for walkin......

I have been searching for the perfect pair of cowboy boots for years. I have looked on ebay and etsy but have never had the courage to purchase them in case they didn't fit and have never found what I was looking for in the shops. That was until on the spur of the moment I dropped into the Mill Markets a few weeks ago. I wandered around gasping and clutching my chest each time I saw something amazing which was every few seconds (and yes, I do this even when shopping by myself...). The Mill Market is a treasure trove of vintage and retro furniture, clothing, tools and pretty much everything and anything you can think of. The cowboy boots caught my eye, I measured them up and figured they'd fit. What a glorious day for me, they fit!

Out & About

Today I am joining in with Raising Boys for Out & About.

This photo was taken at Easter time near Casterton. It is one of my Hubbies favourite spots, the local water hole. This is where he learnt to swim and spent many summer days playing with his numerous siblings and friends. We visit every time we head up that way and it is now one of our children's favourite places.
This is my big girl, Miss Freckles. I love this photo as as it shows her being her! She is the quietest of my 3 children and has always needed "alone" time. She loves to play with others and roughs it with the best of them but always needs time to then do her thing by herself.
